Hi everyone,

I'm about to take a break from my letters to you for my annual summer digital detox. Here, in 2032 it's become widely accepted to fully unplug on vacation, as we put self-care and the care for the planet in the centre of our lifestyles.

I know that things have already started to move in this direction in your time, in 2022. Covid-19 lockdowns disrupted our world and our habits, but when travelling was possible again, some of us preferred simpler vacations to recharge ones batteries, and this trend grew. Putting down the phone, getting outside, reconnecting with friends and family, exploring our neighborhoods rather than jumping on a plane to go to the other side of the world...

As you are probably about to set off for a well-deserved vacation, I encourage you to think how you can make this break a regeneration opportunity, for yourself and for your environment. We've collected a few tips to help you spend a truly responsible and meaningful break.

Enjoy your reading and see you in September,
Joséphine from 2032

10 tips for fun and sustainable holidays

A summer to care for the planet and for yourself

The summer holidays are finally here! All we want is to relax, enjoy the sun and discover new destinations. But wait, there's a small problem...

You want to enjoy your holidays while trying to have the least negative impact on the planet. According to Nature Climate Change, the tourism sector is responsible for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. From air travel to leisure activities and disposable hygiene products in hotels, this sector is one of the most polluting in the world.

This worrying figure is the result of consumption habits and mental models that have been ingrained in us for decades. But all is not lost. There is still time to make the right choices this summer to have fun and protect our natural ecosystems at the same time.

To help you on this journey, we have collected 10 good practices to apply this summer with family, friends, couples, or simply solo.
